Hey @kingsleyfox – Sounds like it’s working well for you. Yes, there is some debate over alcohol, but less so when you’re using such a small amount. Shellac records are another issue, of course. Never use any alcohol on those if you have any.
Interesting that you’re finding the Knosti better than the Okki Nokki. There are some close connections with Discwasher in terms of the people who make the new GrooveWasher, so this carries on the legacy. Cheers!

Sadly the SSL 2+ doesn’t have a switchable input, so XLR is fixed at mic-level and the quarter-inch jack input at line-level. You could buy an adaptor from XLR to jack, but it would be better to just have the right cable.
April 22, 2024 at 2:11 pm #236008Marc HenshallKeymaster@KRAZYKAT I still have the 2MBlue – great upgrade in the red 🙂
April 22, 2024 at 10:18 am #236003Marc HenshallKeymaster@KRAZYKAT – I’ve reviewed the Mani 2. It has more control over loading than the original, though I think the circuit is more surface-mount technology than the Mani 1, which means it’s less repairable if it goes wrong. If you’re happy with the Mani 1, I’m not sure I can say it’s that much of an upgrade. I’d hold off and save for something that might be more of a leap for you.
BTW: That Fosi pre is pretty amazing for such a cheap pre!
April 22, 2024 at 10:14 am #236000Marc HenshallKeymaster@gerhard – great! Sounds like you had a good day. I had family commitments in the end. Probably for the best as I’ll use the money I would’ve spent on some nice pre-loved records instead 🙂

April 22, 2024 at 10:05 am #235989Marc HenshallKeymasterHi Stan,
I have a guide on this that might help:
I suspect the issue is with the quality of the digital converters in those audio interfaces/preamps.
With a higher-quality interface, you’ll likely get the result you’re hoping for.
Hope this helps.
MarcApril 20, 2024 at 3:32 pm #235747Marc HenshallKeymasterCool. Yea, the Mani 2 is great. A little emphasized in the low frequencies and the upper mids, which can suit some cartridges well. The Spartan 15 is worth a look, too, at that price, plus the iFi Zen Phono. All were reviewed at Sound Matters previously. Thanks for your contribution.
April 19, 2024 at 9:33 pm #235564Marc HenshallKeymasterSounds Good, Ashor. Considering the quality of many reissues, it sounds like these are well-managed! Enjoy
April 19, 2024 at 8:34 pm #235538Marc HenshallKeymasterNice! I need to get my hands on some more Analogue Productions releases. The Miles Davis “Kind of Blue”, for example, I’d love to have a copy of.
April 19, 2024 at 8:32 pm #235536Marc HenshallKeymasterThanks for sharing! I have the Ortofon Red and the Nagaoka MP 110: both great. I’ve heard the VM540ML but don’t own one as yet. Great cartridge. I’m hoping to review one on the website soon, it’s a good’n!
